Pick Up Pictures

Finally picked Maggie up! She is a 2016 Entegra Anthem Coach 42DEQ.
She is just beautiful and is currently living up to our expectations. We bought her when we did since the 2017 models were coming out. The 2016 models already built were reduced in price to make room for the 2017 models. I checked every Entegra dealer in the US to see who had a 42DEQ in stock when I found out that no more 2016s were being made. I only found 11 in the whole country. I was able to get a great deal for Maggie at Dixie RV in Hammond, LA which is just North of New Orleans, LA.

After negotiating the price for Maggie, we worked with the closing team. Before we arrived we wanted to know anything that may come up on the day of pick up. We were told about warranties that would be offered – Gap insurance, extended warranty, tire road hazard, external / internal protection, but when we asked them about the details, they were unable to be provided. We had to ask for the fine print and call the manufacturer to understand what was and was not covered.

We determined that Gap insurance could be covered under normal insurance for cheaper. We really didn’t need extended warranty as Entegra provides 2 year bumper to bumper warranty along with roadside assistance. The tire road hazard warranty only covered half the cost of the tires. Good or Bad, we got the exterior/interior protection, but we were able to lower the cost from $2,500 to $1,800.

We flew to New Orleans, LA and had a great time visiting family. We either shipped or took on the plane everything we needed for our maiden journey from Dixie RV to Dallas, TX.

Dixie RV - Hammond, LA
We were picked up in New Orleans by the sales rep of Dixie RV. It was about a 45 drive to Hammond, LA. We were given a great walkthrough by the RV specialist. He was willing to spend as much time as needed to help us learn about the new RV. Since we were REALLY newbies, he spent at least 5+ hours with us the first day and probably an additional 2 hours on the second day.The closing team did not offer the best warranties or for the best price. The closing team was not knowledgeable to answer questions and referred us to the manufacturer website / phone number.

Timmons Truck Center - Alexandra, LA
On the drive from Hammond, LA to Dallas, TX, Maggie got a check engine light. We were able to display the code and found via the internet that it was a severe problem. Entegra support quickly got us in contact with Timmons Truck Center. By the time we got there, they were closing up shop and said we could spend the night in their parking lot.

This was our first evening on our own away from the dealer. We did well with boondocking and were able to use our hotspot to stream shows through Hulu on our Roku. Our biggest challenge was the cell phone signal became poor during the evening making streaming almost impossible.
We need to learn about WiFi and cell boosters to be able to work in some areas.

Timmons Truck Center - Alexandra, LA
Timmons was able to look at Maggie first thing in the morning. They found that a valve was defective associated with the DEF tank. They ordered the part from Arkansas with next day delivery.

We tried to move Maggie closer to the building after they closed to be able to access their guest WiFi. We had no success and moved back to the regular parking area for the evening.
WiFi signals can be difficult to access from inside the RV. Other RVs or obstacles can make it worse.

Move It Storage - Celina, TX
About 11am, the manager came to us and told us that the replacement part was shipped from Missouri instead of Arkansas. Unfortunately the part was wasn't going to make it to the service center until Monday. Timmons agreed to absorb the labor cost and disabled the check engine light. We drove to Celina, TX understanding that we still had a faulty fuel pressure valve but there was a low risk due to the newness of the RV.

The wonderful lady at the storage unit stayed open a bit longer to help us secure a spot to store our new 43' motor home. She worked with us until we found one that Maggie would fit in.

We originally thought we would put Maggie at the top of their hill, but when we drove up the hill, she bottomed out. We carefully backed down the hill and had to spend more money for a covered spot at the bottom of the hill.

Cummins Southern Plains - Dallas, TX
After having Maggie for 2 to 3 weeks, Maggie finally received her replacement part. They put Maggie outside their protected gates for us to pick her up over the weekend. We found that we had to constantly monitor the situation. Since we weren't on location, Maggie became second priority and became lost in their process.
